Ashleigh Kane is an editor, writer, art buyer and consultant, mentor, host and presenter, curator, and producer working globally across art, photography, music, fashion, travel, and beauty.
She has been based in London for ten years and has been the Arts & Culture editor of Dazed & Confused since 2014. Ashleigh has been widely recognised for her work in scouting out, breaking, and providing support to new photography and art talents, many of which are now creative agenda setters all over the world.
In 2018, alongside Red Hook Lab’s founder Jimmy Moffatt and Dazed founder Jefferson Hack, Ashleigh helped to launch Dazed+Labs. The UK iteration of Red Hook Labs’ hugely successful community programmes, Dazed+Labs is focussed on encouraging young people to use their voices by taking photographs. The programme is currently taught by Eddie Otchere and runs out of The Rugby Portobello Trust. The programme has been covered by British Journal of Photography, On The Block, wwd, Feature Shoot, and Dazed.
In 2017, Ashleigh’s first solo show as a curator, AM I MAKING SENSE, was sponsored by Melissa Shoes. It featured Ruth Ossai with stylist Ibrahim Kamara, Shon Faye with director Bec Evans, and Elizabeth Gabrielle Lee with set designer Clarissa Livock. The show was covered by It’s Nice That, Riposte, Dazed, Refinery 29, and many more.
In 2016, alongside New York's Art Baby Gallery's Grace Miceli, she curated a one-night-only exhibition titled A New Sensation at Mother London. The show featured 20 London-based artists including Campbell Addy, Ronan Mckenzie, and Polly Nor, and was attended by over 500 people. The show was covered by i-D, Dazed, ASOS, and more.
Selected clients include Gucci, Versus Versace, Nike, ASOS, The Body Shop, Brick Magazine, Unseen Amsterdam, NOWNESS, Perrier-Jouët, adidas Originals, and Gap Jeans.
